An intimate elopement in Zion, UT

There is a time in everyone’s career where you have a turning point. Something clicks and you just know you are right where you are supposed to be. This was that moment for me. I didn’t ever think I would be a photographer. I went to school to be a high school art teacher. After a year of teaching I quickly learned that would not be my forever job. After being told several times that I should not pursue photography as a career…I did it anyway. I took the leap and eventually it landed me here. In Zion, Utah where I knew for a fact that I was meant to shoot weddings and elopements. I never questioned myself again. This is where my love for elopements really took off and I am forever grateful.

This couple started off the day with a first look at sunrise. We hiked up the overlook trail just before sunrise and while my husband got the groom in place I helped the bride with her gown. We then started shooting their first looks and just let them explore around the area. Absolutely breathtaking. When we finished up we hiked back down and headed home to regroup and they got ready for a cocktail hour before the ceremony. I highly recommended this for intimate weddings! The couple was able to greet their guests and spend quality time with each other.

Afterwards we went up the hill and the couple exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends. The couple were so intentional with everything they did they even wrote letters to each guest and passed them out to everyone during the ceremony. They wanted them all to know why they asked them to be there and how cherished they were. It was absolutely beautiful and so thoughtful.

When the ceremony ended they all went back to their lodge and had a private dinner to follow and dance the night away. One of the benefits to an intimate wedding like this is that you get to break all the rules. You choose the order of events and you choose your closest family and friends to celebrate with you. If something non traditional like this sounds like it fits you and your couple please connect with us. We would love to create an adventurous day with you!
